Australia and India will be kickstarting the much-awaited three-match ODI series on January 14 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While India are coming on the back of a 2-0 T20I series win against Sri Lanka, Australia are undefeated across formats since the conclusion of Ashes 2019. The series promises to be a thriller with two world-class sides locking horns to get one over their opponent in the shorter format of the game. Ahead of the series opener in Mumbai, Aussie wicket-keeper Alex Carey said that he wants to emulate what MS Dhoni has been doing for the Men in Blue while batting deep in the batting order.

Carey, while taking a look at his career thus far, said he still has lots to improve in his game and consistently wants to improve his game while adding that he wants to learn as much as possible from the best in the world like Dhoni.

"I still have lots of areas in my game I want to improve on and get better at. I know I will probably bat middle to lower order so it's trying to finish games off for Australia. When you look at the best in the world like MS Dhoni, you want to learn as much as you can from him," Carey told reporters in Mumbai ahead of their first practice session at the Wankhede Stadium.

"I was lucky enough to play against him (Dhoni) last year, just the way he took the game deep and won the games for India. I aspire to do that one-day," Carey added.

The India versus Australia, three-match ODI series will have some mouth-watering head-to-head clashes with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli going against world-class bowling attack consisting of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. And on the other hand, the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne will lock horns against Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and others.  Carey is of the view that the series is going to be great with tough cricket to be played by both sides.

"It's going to be some great, tough cricket coming up. We've got some world-class players in Warner, Smith, Marnus is coming off lots of runs, and Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, so I don't think we need to doubt our abilities. We've shown in the past we're good enough over here," he said.
